For Parents and Families

Parenting Sessions

Do you have some questions about your child’s development? Not sure if you are doing things “right” as a parent? I will answer your questions and provide developmentally appropriate and evidence-based tools to help you in your parenting journey. Learn parenting strategies that will help you manage your child’s more challenging behaviors. Sessions will focus on your individual family’s needs, and geared toward your child’s behaviors and development. You will learn evidence-based methods of managing behaviors specific to your child. This is ideal for parents with questions that are specific to their family or child’s circumstances. Examples for this include (but are not limited to):

  • Learning new strategies to deal with challenging behaviors, such as tantrums, acting out, or extreme shyness

  • Adjustment to a new school or recent move

  • Co-parenting issues

  • Introducing new baby or sibling

Family Assessment

This assessment is ideal for families who are wondering what may be contributing to their child’s social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties at home or school. This thorough, comprehensive assessment will give you a “snapshot” of your family’s functioning - your current parenting strategies, your child’s current social, emotional, and behavioral well-being, and how your parenting may be impacting your child’s development. This assessment includes meetings with you and your child and takes places over 2-3 meetings. The assessment includes individual meetings with you and your child (separately), brief observations of the interactions between members of your family, and questionnaires. All of this information is complied and I will present you with your Family Profile, with recommendations for further services for your child and your family. Examples of recommendations may include (but not limited to) after school activities, medical evaluations, social skills groups, parenting support, or individual therapy. This service can be conducted via telehealth or in-person.

Parenting Group

Do you know fellow parents who share your same questions and concerns about child behaviors and development? Want an excuse to spend time with grown ups? Host a parenting group for friends, neighbors, and colleagues to join in a private parenting group! My groups are tailored to you and your friends, and are great if you want to ask your questions in the comfort of your own circle. Currently, parenting groups can be held remotely. Contact me for more information.

For Children and Teens

Child and Adolescent Therapy

I work with children and teens to learn coping skills that help them manage social, emotional, and behavior difficulties. In our sessions, your child will learn evidence-based methods to help promote their self-confidence and mental health well-being. I also work collaboratively with parents to ensure they have the tools necessary to support their child’s goals outside of sessions. The length of time varies depending on your child’s treatment goals. If you are wondering if this is the right service for you, please contact me for a brief phone consult.

Brief Telehealth Therapy for Children

The COVID-19 pandemic has made life more challenging for everyone, and children are no exception. If your child is in need of brief (30 minute) calls to help support their social-emotional development during this time, this is a good option for you. Contact me for more information or to see if this is the right service for you.

Psychological and Psycho-Educational Evaluations

I conduct evaluations to help clarify your child’s developmental, psychological, and educational difficulties. Evaluations are completed over 2-3 sessions. Upon completion you will received a detailed report with recommendations, which can be shared with your child’s schools and/or other health care providers. Contact me to determine if an evaluation is appropriate for your child.
